Health and Wellness
The goal of this committee is to provide resources and events that are geared towards helping students develop their overall health and wellness. For ASDA, there are 5 dimensions of wellness—emotional, physical, intellectual, occupational, and environmental. While some dimensions are emphasized more than others, we are striving to be more well-rounded in our efforts. Some of the activities we have planned in the past include the Steps Competition, Class Cup, Field day, Wellness Wednesday newsletters, and providing healthy snacks during finals!
Toyin Ajayi, 2021
Hi, I'm Toyin! I was born and raised in Maryland. I attended the University of Pittsburgh for undergrad where I majored in Psychology and minored in Chemistry. I decided to stay in Pittsburgh for 4 more years at Pitt Dental! I love how ASDA helps to connect students on both the local and national level. Being part of the Health and Wellness team has helped me to think outside of the box, while encouraging other students to try and stay active! If you have any questions or ideas that could be useful to the committee, feel free to reach out to me!
Kirsten Fast, 2021
Hi, I'm Kirsten! I grew up in the DC area in Bowie, MD, did my undergrad at Ohio State, and now I'm here at Pitt. I am doing the Navy HPSP scholarship, so once I graduate I'll be working as a Navy dentist for at least four years! I love being part of ASDA because it is a great way to care for our students beyond their academic needs. In my free time I like to run and bike, and I've found these to be some of the best ways to explore the city. I'm also a chronic stress-baker. If you're doing a military scholarship, or you are into marathons, triathlons, and/or sugary treats please feel free to reach out!
Each month the wellness committee does a Wellness Wednesday post on Facebook including healthy recipes, student advice and fun facts
